Oklahoma Wind Volleyball, Inc. began in 1989 with one team and has grown into as many as 12 registered teams, ranging in age from ten to eighteen years of age playing in six age brackets. In 1996 we incorporated under our current name Oklahoma Wind Volleyball, Inc. as a non profit 501(c)3 organization.
Oklahoma Wind is a member of USA Volleyball, Volleyball's National Organization and the Oklahoma Regional Volleyball Association. We are a professionally run, parent-board directed organization that seeks to positively impact volleyball in the state of Oklahoma. All parents are encouraged to become active participants in the monthly board meetings and to consider membership on the Board of Directors.
We take pride in the fact that our club and club members promote excellence in volleyball. Oklahoma Wind sponsors and organizes one of the finest and most reputable volleyball tournaments in Oklahoma, The Redlands Rendezvous. This tournament has a definite positive economic and financial impact on the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
Oklahoma Wind was founded to provide the opportunity and conditions necessary for the development of excellence at the competitive level of Oklahoma volleyball players. One of our primary goals is to better enable Oklahoma high school volleyball players to develop their skills and to receive the exposure to earn volleyball scholarships.
Our coaching staff helps players find colleges they can excel at, both in academics and their athletic pursuits. Oklahoma Wind supports its players and parents in their efforts and endeavors in the college recruiting process.
Oklahoma Wind doesn't want volleyball to be only for the elite who can afford to pay the required fees. The club's philosophy is to expand its efforts in supporting junior high and high school volleyball, to be an educational resource for coaches, and to provide scholarships to inner city and economically unable teenagers, so they are able to participate in one of the finest volleyball development programs available.
Our goal is to keep fees charged to players as low as possible in order that any talented young player can compete. We offer fundraising opportunities to reduce fees as best as we can.
